Foundation of the Science and Technology Park - VÚK a.s.

The Science and Technology (VTP) park was founded in 1993 by the then state-owned Inovační technologické centrum – VÚK (Technological Innovation Centre – VÚK) company, on the company premises at Panenské Břežany. At present the VTP premises are owned and operated by Inovační technologické centrum – VÚK, a.s., a joint-stock company that is the successor of the former state-owned company. VTP originated as one of the first technology parks in the Czech Republic. The Science and Technology Parks Association CR (www.svtp.cz) awarded accreditation to our VTP on September 06, 1994, defended subsequently by the decision of the VTP Commission for Accreditation on following dates: January 01, 1996; November 04, 1997 and November 30, 1998.

Research, Laboratories, Technical Library

VTP is the only workplace in the Czech Republic (in addition to universities and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic) involved in the research and development of products made of non-ferrous metals and alloys, on commercial basis. Part of the VTP (the VÚK Panenské Břežany s.r.o. firm) is a testing station, registered by the Association of Czech Testing Stations and Laboratories (Sdružení českých zkušeben a laboratoří). The testing station includes chemical laboratories, mechanical test room and metallographic laboratory. The testing station is authorized to conduct comprehensive material analyses of metallic materials (chemical analyses, testing of mechanical, technological and fatigue properties and analyses of microstructural constituents).

The VTP premises also encompass a technical library which started to operate in 1946, and which is being used for training and information purposes, by providing information services to companies and other technical libraries.
Production Shops for Lease

The VTP premises consist of the vicinage of a former castle at Panenské Břežany, including a far-reaching park. 12.460 m2 of the VTP are can be used as non-residential premises for business purposes, of which 8.538 m2 are owned by the ITC-VÚK, a.s. company, and 3.922 m2 by two other tenant members of VTP (VÚK - Kovohutě s.r.o. and EKO - VUK s.r.o.). From the total 12.460 m2 77.9 percent (i.e. 9.711 m2 ) are utilized by VTP members. The remaining area of 2.749 m2 (22.1 per cent) is used as leased area by other firms. From the currently developed areas a space of approx. 1.200 m2 can still be used for new entrepreneurial entities.
Innovation Companies at the VTP Area

The VTP area is currently home for 10 innovation companies that develop their activities based on lease contracts for production shops and equipment, and simultaneously by using auxiliary services and the infrastructure. Most of the innovation firms undertake their business in areas having a bearing on research, development and manufacture of materials based on non-ferrous metals. The activity of tenants acting at the VTP area focuses mainly the following:
  • Research, development and production application of new non-ferrous materials
  • Material testing
  • Information technology and counselling services
  • Casting, forming and heat processing of metals
  • Production of high-purity metals
  • Re-processing of precious metal alloys
  • Environmental-friendly processing of wastes containing non-ferrous metals
  • Measuring and control systems for the industry
  • Magnetic materials and measuring instruments
  • Manufacture of medical apparatuses for presotherapy
  • Machinery and locksmith´s production
  • Chemical analyses
